Once a picturesque ancient village on the Adriatic coast; Ortona has been reduced to rubble. Canadian and German troops are clashing daily, in bitter, house-to-house fighting. Snipers, booby traps and land mines are a constant threat.

Operation Snatch and Grab
Situation Analysis:
HQ has intelligence that Major General Richard Heidrich is working on a plot to destroy the Canadian Forces bearing down on his German Elite Paratroopers bunkered in the city. According to sympathetic locals to our cause, he is in a house in the lower part of the city near the coast. The house is apparently heavily guarded.
Your Orders:
You must fight to the death and reach the enemies HQ. In this you must capture Heidrich and bring him back for questioning. If Heidrich is shot in the head then you will have lost the objective. Protect the prisoner and bring him back for interrogation.
The Trap
Situation Analysis:
It is evident we are up against a “tough and determined” enemy. The last operation was a failure because we didn’t realize Heidrich had heavy machine guns and what looked like new Tiger Tanks just outside the perimeter of the house. According to intelligence, (I know a little late coming in) the house he is in is heavily guarded might be booby trapped. Ya think?!?!
Your Orders:
You must fight to the death and reach the enemies hideout and disable the bomb if it exists and get out.
HQ has determined in its wisdom that this would be better so Special forces don’t get blown up in the process of nabbing Heidrich and getting him for interrogation.
Comments:
I thought that was what Spec Ops was for?!?! Why are they so special that we have to roll out the red carpet for them, and they get the credit. I guess we Canadians are the Pampers of the Allied forces, we get the crap, and they get the glory. I am thinking it might be that Heidrich gets mistaken for some low life German Officer if you get my drift. No Heidrich, no problem, but you didn’t’ hear that from me. The Germans will be sorry they ever laid eyes on us Kanuks when we get done with them.
Operation Shock and Awe
Situation Analysis:
Ortona, a jewel of the Adriatic, but now a German strong hold. Virtually all civilians have left, and it’s Dodge City all over again boys (or what’s left of it). It’s dangerous; there are snipers in the towers, 2 story buildings, Tiger Tanks, and a Nazi for everyone. Time for the Germans to get a taste of us Canadians eh.
Your Orders:
Eliminate the enemy and establish our flag at the far end of the city so Allied Forces will have use of the deep water port and bring in reinforcements, for the big push north.
