AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE and call for support to all who care about Paintball
To all who love Paintball,
On the 29th of June 2009 Oro Medonte Township and Monty and Tracey Childs entered into a written agreement to conduct paintball on their property. Approximately 90 acres was identified, and certain areas and conditions applied.
One condition was that the site plan agreement would be reviewed in September and a report would be created by the planning department to determine steps to be taken moving forward. One of which was the possibility of re-zoning the land based on the success and magnitude of the park.
On the 10th of September a By Law officer entered onto the property and toured the park and told Mr. Childs that the park was in compliance with the bylaws.
On September 21st the Director of the Planning Department came out with another employee of the Township to conduct the site plan review. After touring the park Paul Childs, son of Mr. Childs and part owner of the park was told that everything looked good.
On October 20th 2009 Mr. Childs was contacted by Mel Coutanche the Councilor for his Ward, and was told a report had been created and that he would send it to him. Mr. Childs was also told by Mr. Coutanche that Oro Medonte Council would be voting on the report the next day.
The report cited a number of infractions of Township bylaws and recommended the site plan agreement be revoked, and that an application to re-zone would be required for the park to continue its operation. However, there was no provision in the report recommending the park continue while it submits, and applies for re-zoning.
The vote was stayed until the following week. Mr. Childs submitted a written deputation asking Council to provide 60 days to work with the planning department to resolve the cited infractions.
The deputation was accepted into Council as an official deputation, and a vote on the future of the park will be conducted on November 12th. 2009.
Mr. Childs was told by certain individuals within the Township that it would be a good idea to garner support for the park, and have people write, and contact Council members of their wish for the park to continue operations, and that they be given the right to re-zone. The re-zoning application would likely be in the form of a small commercial parcel to allow for commercial transactions, and the remaining acreage be zoned park-recreational.
The following letter to Oro Medonte Council members may be copied, and sent, however, you may modify the letter so it better indicates your wishes.
We need your help, so please write, call, and if you can come to Oro Medonte Township offices on November 12th. 2009 commencing at 7:00pm. Your show of support at the meeting it would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,
Monty Childs

It has come to my attention that a vote to allow Horseshoe Valley Paintball to conduct their business on the property of 3193 Line 7 North is being voted on, on November 12th 2009.
Horseshoe is a great benefit to our families, our youth, teams, Police, Military and the local community. I want Horseshoe Valley Paintball to continue its operation at its present location.
I understand Horseshoe will be applying for a re-zoning, and fully support Horseshoe Valley Paintball in their endeavor and ask Council to grant them a bylaw to re-zone the property to benefit them, the Township, and community at large
I want you to allow them to continue their operation without having to modify the park in any way until they are granted the right through the re-zoning process to continue their operation at their present location.
